TRAGIC DEATH OF YOUNG SENEGALESE GOALKEEPER - CHEIK TOURE
Cheik Toure, young Senegalese Goalkeeper who was playing for Esprit Foot Yeumbeul in Dakar (Senegal) has tragically lost his life after being lured, kidnapped and murdered by an unknown criminal gang. The 18-year old rising footballer was magnetized with a guarantee of trial in a professional football team. In an attempt to elevate his career, he travelled for the trial only to meet his untimely death on the 17th of October, 2025 after getting kidnapped.
The fraudsters, masqueraded as football scouts in Ghana, promised him a move abroad if his trial is successful. The lifeless body of Cheik Toure was found in Kumasi, Capital of the Ashanti region of Ghana after the family of Cheik couldn’t meet the ransom demands of the kidnappers. His body is currently at Ebenezar Tafo Morgue in Kumasi pending repatriation by the Senegalese Embassy.
The Senegalese Ministry of African Integration & Foreign affairs have confirmed the death of Cheik Toure and have issued an official statement to express condolences. The Ministry warned young athletes and sportspeople of similar fraudulent incidents.
The Regional Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service in Kumasi has commenced investigations into the tragic incident. According to the reports he was brought to the hospital by Toure’s acclaimed brother Issah. Issah claimed Cheik had been involved in an accident but was confirmed dead upon arrival by hospital authorities.
This incident has raised major concerns about the risks young African footballers who receive “sweet” offers from sports trafficking and deceptive football systems.

This is sad for the football world. May his soul rest in perfect peace
